Description

We are looking for compassionate, reliable and resilient Support Workers to support individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health difficulties, substance misuse and challenging or anti-social behaviour. The role involves providing practical and emotional support while helping individuals develop stability, independence and confidence in their daily lives.

You will build positive, professional relationships with service users, support them with their individual needs and encourage engagement with appropriate healthcare, drug and alcohol and other support services. You will also help individuals with daily routines, appointments, budgeting, accessing benefits and developing essential life skills.

The role requires a calm and non-judgemental approach when supporting people who may present with complex needs or challenging behavior. You will maintain accurate records, follow support plans and safeguarding procedures, report concerns and work closely with colleagues and external professionals to ensure individuals receive appropriate support.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping vulnerable people make positive changes and move towards greater independence and stability.

Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate, person-centred support to vulnerable adults.
  • Support individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health difficulties and substance misuse.
  • Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with service users.
  • Provide emotional support, reassurance and encouragement.
  • Support individuals with daily routines and essential life skills.
  • Encourage engagement with drug, alcohol, mental health and other support services.
  • Support service users with appointments and access to relevant services.
  • Manage and respond appropriately to challenging or anti-social behaviour.
  • Promote independence, dignity, choice and wellbeing.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns and changes in behaviour or wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, including daily notes and incident reports.
  • Follow individual support plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • Work closely with colleagues and external professionals to provide consistent support.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and a calm, non-judgemental approach.
  • Follow health and safety, confidentiality and organisational policies.
Qualifications

Needed:

  • 6 months experience as a Support Worker in the UK (Preferably experience in Mental Health, Drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness and challenging behavior).
  • Good communication skills and a compassionate, non-judgemental approach.
  • DBS Check on update service or willingness to obtain

Desirable:

  • Mental Health Awareness qualification.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Health & Social Care.
  • Care Certificate.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Ability to work calmly and professionally in challenging situations.
