We are recruiting reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porters to support kitchen teams within care home environments. You will play an important role in maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen, supporting the Chef and wider kitchen team with the smooth running of daily operations.
Duties will include washing dishes, pots and utensils, cleaning and sanitising kitchen areas and equipment, and safely disposing of waste. You will follow food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH procedures at all times.
The role requires good attention to detail, a strong work ethic and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team. Previous kitchen or cleaning experience is desirable, particularly within a care home, healthcare or catering environment.
- Wash and clean dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment.
- Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, floors and work areas.
- Keep the kitchen clean, tidy and organised throughout the shift.
- Safely operate dishwashers and other kitchen cleaning equipment.
- Dispose of food and general waste safely and correctly.
- Follow COSHH procedures when handling cleaning chemicals.
- Follow food hygiene, infection control, health and safety procedures.
- Ensure cleaning products and equipment are stored safely.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness to prevent cross-contamination.
- Assist the Chef and kitchen team with general kitchen duties as required.
- Report any damaged equipment, maintenance issues or health and safety concerns.
- Work efficiently as part of the wider kitchen team.
- Basic knowledge of COSHH
- DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain
- Friendly approach and comfortable working within a care home setting.
- Previous kitchen porter experience - Desirable
- Food Hygiene certificate - Desirable
- Allergens certificate - Desierable
